		<description>I don’t think you have to worry about taking the spirit of reading away from a child.  Missing a few days away from the books will only make the draw back to the library more intense when she comes home.    

I think the bigger question is why we need such an expensive solution for an inconvenience.  The technology is there but is it necessary?  Do we teach our children that when you need a niftier way to do something simple, buy a new gadget?  Need a new book reader, sure here&#039;s $360 to go buy one.  Need a new book, sure here&#039;s free wireless access to the Kindle bookstore.  Help yourself; it’s only $9.99 per book.  On the other hand, we do live in the country with the highest standard of living going.  Why not show it off a little.  

As far as solutions go, try a bigger book bag, paperback, or explore the local sites.  In all fairness, I’ve never had to fill a child’s day with vacation adventure.  So, given the thought of an unhappy kid for two weeks, I might opt for the Kindle too.</description>
