As I type, three very charming young girls (‘tween 7 and 9 years old I would guess) are sweeping our driveway. They extorted the outrageous sum of 25 cents each out of me. Can you believe it?
No, their parents aren’t supervising to make sure they’re okay. One can only assume that they decided to earn a little extra cash today, and so grabbed the brooms and started hitting up the neighbors.
I offered to double the price if they would sweep the sidewalk too, and as I climbed the stairs inside I heard one say, “Wow, that was nice!”. Perhaps I’ll be extra generous and let them wash the car for a whole extra $1.00 (split three ways of course!)
I love small towns.
